Day by Day Itinerary
10-day planArrive Islamabad
Pickup, gear check, briefing over the shot list. The arrival team checks the flight time before dispatch and confirms the hotel transfer, local contact details and the next departure at the briefing. For Arrive Islamabad on day 1, the team confirms the hotel, next departure time, luggage plan and any immediate practical needs after arrival; optional sightseeing is added only when time and energy allow.
Max altitude 540 mIslamabad to Chilas
Indus gorge and Nanga Parbat viewpoint in evening light. This is a long mountain-road transfer, so meal and washroom stops are planned around daylight, traffic and the route that is actually open. For Islamabad to Chilas on day 2, driving time can change with road work, landslides, traffic and seasonal pass access; water, medication, identification and a warm layer should remain in the day bag.
Max altitude 1,265 mChilas to Karimabad
Rakaposhi View Point in morning light; bazaar blue hour. The Indus corridor, Nanga Parbat viewpoint and Rakaposhi viewpoint are considered en route, with stops selected according to visibility and safe parking. For Chilas to Karimabad on day 3, the guide explains the local history and allows unhurried time in the lanes, gardens and viewpoints; fort entry and any community visit follow the opening hours and rules in effect that day.
Max altitude 2,438 mDuikar sunrise + heritage
Dawn at Eagle's Nest; forts and lanes by day. The Duikar viewpoint is timed for useful light when conditions allow, but cloud and haze can change the final sunset or sunrise stop. For Duikar sunrise + heritage on day 4, photography stops are chosen for light, visibility and safe parking rather than a rigid clock; ask before photographing residents, and keep paths and village entrances clear.
Max altitude 2,850 mHopper Glacier
Nagar-side Rakaposhi angles and ice textures. Nagar-side roads and glacier viewpoints are assessed locally; any walk beyond the normal viewpoint requires suitable footwear and a safe turnaround time. For Hopper Glacier on day 5, the guide sets the pace from trail, weather and group condition; carry water, sun protection and a warm layer, use stable footwear, and report headache, unusual fatigue or discomfort early.
Max altitude 2,800 mAttabad dawn to Gulmit
Still-water morning shoot; overnight Gojal. At Attabad Lake, any boating stop proceeds only when wind, lake conditions and the selected operator allow a safe departure. For Attabad dawn to Gulmit on day 6, the schedule favours useful light and safe viewpoints, with flexibility for cloud, traffic and local access; the guide allows setup time without blocking roads, homes or working farmland.
Max altitude 2,500 mPassu sunrise + Borith + Hussaini
Cathedral Ridge at dawn; bridge compositions. The photography schedule considers light, access and the time required to work at each location. For Passu sunrise + Borith + Hussaini on day 7, early or late light is used where practical, while weather determines the final viewpoint; equipment remains supervised during roadside stops and larger luggage stays secured in the vehicle.
Max altitude 2,850 mKhunjerab Pass
High-altitude landscapes and wildlife long-lens work. The guide confirms access, expected conditions and any suitable adjustments before the group leaves the hotel or meeting point. For Khunjerab Pass on day 8, the border viewpoint sits at high altitude and can be cold even when Hunza is mild; the driver uses conservative stops, and the final turnaround follows road, weather and visitor-access conditions.
Max altitude 4,693 mFlexible light day
Your guide returns you to the week's best conditions. Timing remains flexible enough to respond to local access, weather and the confirmed interests of the travellers. For Flexible light day on day 9, the route uses practical meal and comfort stops without promising every roadside viewpoint; the guide reconfirms the arrival estimate and following start time as conditions become clear.

Gilgit flight option (aerials of Nanga Parbat); airport drop. The final transfer keeps a sensible buffer for the agreed train or flight time, while any optional stop depends on the remaining daylight and traffic.

Can you handle drone rules?
We advise current site-by-site guidance and arrange local permissions where possible; sensitive zones (border areas) are no-fly regardless.
Group photography departures?
Yes: small-group photo tours (max 6) run each April and October; ask for this year's dates.
Is this tour completely private?
Yes: your own vehicle, your own driver and guide, and departure on any date you choose. No strangers, no fixed seats, and the daily plan flexes to your pace.
Can the trip begin at Gilgit Airport?
Yes: fly Islamabad to Gilgit (tickets booked at cost) and we start the itinerary from the airport, trimming the road days. A road backup is always planned in case mountain weather cancels the flight.
What happens if a domestic flight is cancelled?
Mountain weather cancels a share of Gilgit and Skardu flights, so every fly-based plan carries a costed road backup that activates automatically: you may lose a day, never the trip. Road-based itineraries are unaffected.
Is Khunjerab Pass included?
Yes: the itinerary includes a Khunjerab Pass day (4,693 m, China border), open roughly May to late November. In winter we substitute Naltar Valley snowscapes.
Which hotels are used?

Is this package suitable for children?
Yes: drive legs are broken with rest stops, family rooms are booked, and daily plans flex around nap and meal times. Car seats available on request.

Yes with reasonable mobility: vehicle access covers nearly every highlight, walking is optional, and we pace days generously. Tell us about any conditions and we’ll adapt the plan.
