7-day planIslamabad to Chilas
Travel north on the Karakoram Highway with planned stops and an overnight stay in Chilas. This is a long mountain-road transfer, so meal and washroom stops are planned around daylight, traffic and the route that is actually open. Max altitude 1,265 mChilas to Karimabad
Autumn viewpoints en route. The Indus corridor, Nanga Parbat viewpoint and Rakaposhi viewpoint are considered en route, with stops selected according to visibility and safe parking. For Chilas to Karimabad on day 2, driving time can change with road work, landslides, traffic and seasonal pass access; water, medication, identification and a warm layer should remain in the day bag.

Forts among golden orchards; Duikar sunset. Central Hunza visits are sequenced around fort opening hours, village access and walking time between Karimabad, Altit and Ganish. For Colour day: Karimabad & Altit on day 3, photography stops are chosen for light, visibility and safe parking rather than a rigid clock; ask before photographing residents, and keep paths and village entrances clear.
Max altitude 2,850 mHopper & Nagar
Autumn colours against Hopper Glacier. Nagar-side roads and glacier viewpoints are assessed locally; any walk beyond the normal viewpoint requires suitable footwear and a safe turnaround time. For Hopper & Nagar on day 4, the guide sets the pace from trail, weather and group condition; carry water, sun protection and a warm layer, use stable footwear, and report headache, unusual fatigue or discomfort early.
Max altitude 2,800 mAttabad to Gulmit to Passu
Lake, bridge and cones with autumn light. At Attabad Lake, any boating stop proceeds only when wind, lake conditions and the selected operator allow a safe departure. For Attabad to Gulmit to Passu on day 5, the programme leaves time for the shoreline and viewpoints rather than treating the lake as a quick roadside stop; any boat ride is optional and subject to safe operating conditions.

Your guide returns you to the week's best colour. Timing remains flexible enough to respond to local access, weather and the confirmed interests of the travellers. For Flexible light-chasing day on day 6, driving time can change with road work, landslides, traffic and seasonal pass access; water, medication, identification and a warm layer should remain in the day bag.

When exactly is peak colour?
Usually mid-October to early November in central Hunza: we advise your dates two weeks out.
Is Khunjerab possible in autumn?
Usually yes through November, weather permitting: it can be added as an extra day.
Is this tour completely private?
Yes: your own vehicle, your own driver, and departure on any date you choose. No strangers, no fixed seats, and the daily plan flexes to your pace.
Can the trip begin at Gilgit Airport?
Yes: fly Islamabad to Gilgit (tickets booked at cost) and we start the itinerary from the airport, trimming the road days. A road backup is always planned in case mountain weather cancels the flight.
What happens if a domestic flight is cancelled?
Mountain weather cancels a share of Gilgit and Skardu flights, so every fly-based plan carries a costed road backup that activates automatically: you may lose a day, never the trip. Road-based itineraries are unaffected.
