7-day planIslamabad to Naran
Kaghan Valley climb; riverside evening. Timing remains flexible enough to respond to local access, weather and the confirmed interests of the travellers. For Islamabad to Naran on day 1, allow a full mountain-road day with meal, fuel and comfort stops agreed en route; the driver follows the road that is officially open and adjusts timing for traffic, weather and daylight.
Max altitude 2,409 mSaif-ul-Malook to Babusar to Chilas
Morning lake jeep, cross Babusar (seasonal). Babusar Pass is used only after the authorities confirm seasonal access; the Karakoram Highway remains the practical alternative when the pass is closed. For Saif-ul-Malook to Babusar to Chilas on day 2, boating proceeds only when wind, water conditions and the selected operator allow it; the guide keeps enough time for safe photo stops and the onward road journey without rushing the lakeside visit.
Max altitude 4,173 mChilas to Gilgit to Karimabad
Junction-point views; arrive Hunza. The Indus corridor, Nanga Parbat viewpoint and Rakaposhi viewpoint are considered en route, with stops selected according to visibility and safe parking. For Chilas to Gilgit to Karimabad on day 3, after check-in, the guide reviews the next start time, clothing needs and transport plan; the rest of the day stays light so the journey begins at a realistic pace.

Max altitude 2,850 mAttabad to Khunjerab
Lake morning, border afternoon; overnight Gulmit. Khunjerab is a high-altitude excursion with limited services, so the vehicle leaves early and guests carry water, warm layers and identification. For Attabad to Khunjerab on day 5, the border viewpoint sits at high altitude and can be cold even when Hunza is mild; the driver uses conservative stops, and the final turnaround follows road, weather and visitor-access conditions.
Max altitude 4,693 mGulmit to Besham/Naran
Begin return with flexible stops. Upper Hunza stops are spaced between Gulmit, Hussaini and Passu so the day does not become a rushed sequence of roadside photographs. For Gulmit to Besham/Naran on day 6, driving time can change with road work, landslides, traffic and seasonal pass access; water, medication, identification and a warm layer should remain in the day bag.

Can the trip begin at Gilgit Airport?

Mountain weather cancels a share of Gilgit and Skardu flights, so every fly-based plan carries a costed road backup that activates automatically: you may lose a day, never the trip. Road-based itineraries are unaffected.
