Day by Day Itinerary
1-day planHunza to Khunjerab Pass and Return
Depart early from Karimabad, Gulmit, Passu or the agreed Upper Hunza hotel and follow the Karakoram Highway north through the Sost area toward Khunjerab. The driver uses current local information on road and visitor access before committing to the highest section. Stop for selected viewpoints while protecting enough time for the return journey. If the public visitor area at Khunjerab is accessible, spend a limited period at approximately 4,693 metres because the altitude can affect people even when they are only sightseeing. The guide encourages a slow pace, warm layers, hydration and honest reporting of headache or unusual breathlessness. The tour visits the public border area only; crossing into China requires separate immigration permission and travel documents. Return toward Hunza with meal and rest stops adapted to the operating day, arriving back in the evening.
