Things To Do in Hunza: The Complete Activities Guide

ActivitiesHunza Travel Guide
← All Hunza travel guides
In short: Hunza is not just viewpoints: boating and jet-skiing on Attabad, crossing the Hussaini bridge, day hikes and glacier walks, winter skiing at Naltar, cherry-blossom photography, festivals, stargazing and some of Pakistan’s best café culture. Here is the full activity menu and when to do each.

On the Water

Attabad Lake is the hub: traditional boats, speedboats and jet skis run late March to November, with the calmest water before 10 am. Borith Lake offers quiet kayak-style paddling and birdwatching in migration seasons. Winter turns Attabad’s edges to ice sculpture: for photographs, not boats.

Walks, Hikes & Glaciers

Easy: Altit gardens, Channel Walk, Ondra Fort (45 min, huge views). Half-day: Borith → Passu Glacier viewpoint, Ultar gorge toward the meadow, Hopper Glacier rim with an optional ice walk. Full trek menu: Rakaposhi BC to K2: lives on our Treks page. Every walk has a drive-instead option for mixed-energy groups.

Adventure & Adrenaline

Hussaini suspension bridge crossing (free adrenaline), ziplining where operating at Attabad, the Khunjerab cycling descent (80+ km of tarmac), jeep tracks to Naltar and Fairy Meadows, and winter skiing at Naltar: home of Pakistan’s national championships: with Malam Jabba as the lift-served alternative.

Culture, Festivals & Food

Fort visits with music evenings, Wakhi cultural shows in Gulmit, apricot-harvest season in July, Ginani harvest festival in June, the Silk Route Festival when scheduled, and Karimabad‘s café scene: walnut cake, apricot everything, and espresso with a 7,788 m view. Day-trippable beyond the valley: Shandur Polo Festival each July and Kalash festivals via our dedicated tours.

Skies & Seasons

Hunza’s dry air and low light pollution make superb stargazing: Duikar and Passu are the favourite dark-sky spots, best in autumn. Photographers should target April blossom, October gold, and winter’s ice-blue Attabad. Every activity here can be built into any package: tell us your energy level and we’ll shape the days.
