Older Than Baltit

The Royal Garden & Kha Basi

Below the fort, the restored Royal Garden hosts the Kha Basi Café, run by local women: apricot cake, traditional dishes and one of the nicest lunch stops in the valley. The old village lanes around the fort remain lived-in, not museum-piece.

Combine Altit with Baltit and Ganish in one heritage day; allow 1.5 to 2 hours here. Morning visits are quieter; the tower-top river view is the classic photo. Tickets include a local guide.
